2006 Tucson Aerobatic Shootout - Bogans Barbeque on the Moon If you've never seen a model aeroplane on fire, its not a pretty sight. The model hit the desert with a full tank of gas, and from where we where standing, a small plume of smoke appeared behind the bushes a few hundred metres away. Cars and people race to the scene, with not much water to put the fire out. Luckily it had hit in a clearing and we didn't set fire to the whole of Arizona ! John Heigl got their in time to hear the Li-Ion batterys starting firing off. Not much to do but stand back and watch it go up in flames. Scary stuff.
However ... we soldiered on, and soon after the devastating incident, the next model was being readied for action.
